Maria Carolina married Prince Henry, Duke of Aumale, fifth and second youngest son of Louis-Philippe of France and his wife Maria Amalia of the Two Sicilies on 25 November 1844 in Naples.[1][2] Maria Carolina and Henry had four children:[1][2]
Maria Carolina remained inconsolable over the death of her eldest son, Louis Philippe, and died in exile at Twickenham in 1869 from infectious tuberculosis. She and her husband had a loving marriage and after the death of his wife, Henry preferred to remain a widower until his death in 1897.
